The last week or so I’ve been quite its because i’ve been doing some serious changes to the way I manage my video recording, including a dedicated Chrome Profile, a bat script to remove and clear up profile and product information when recording.
All audio now goes though a single microphone, and Krisp for background noise reduction, I’ve even added some follow and zoom options to my stream deck for OBS which I may never use
At the sometime all this background work has been going on the team at NameCrane have been updating the servers that several of my demo sites run on increasing the processors and available RAM and offloading SQL. Some of you may have noticed the slow down on these sites and this should resolve this issues.
GridPane
In addition to this I have now created a TechArticles team and given them access to a server probably too to create demo sites on they are not fast about three and a half minutes compared to about 35 seconds on InstaWP but they are branded and unlimited and they run on my usual tech stack
With this I have also created a couple of new taper monkey scripts to better utilise this one which allows me to select the domain and package and automatically fill in the options, no thinking of temporary domain names, no need to think about options it automatically picks those I use the most with domain and bundle being the main changes.
I’ve also written a small on to auto blur as much as possible the server IP address when I am using it in videos etc this should speed up some of my post production.
You put that all together and you get the gif above which allows for me to quickly create and produce demo sites I can delete and spend a little time in the grid pane dashboard without leaking every sever and sites details.
So you can expect to see more gridpane and direct admin interfaces in videos thanks to the prepwork I’ve done.
Gridpane Notifications
Gridpane uses slack for notifications and although i’ve now got a slack account I still use discord for these sort of notifications but using the /slack discord trick I’ve got my discord fully setup and now getting all sorts of live notification data.
I’ve also increased the items which will get me a notification to include site creation and deletion
Why Aninmals
You would have noticed that i’ve used animals in most of these generators, its used in the multisite generator, this grid pane script and several other site / subdomain creators why? Its easy I use the same list of animals with enough variety with 2 /3 that there will never be any likeliness of a repeat. I also like animals as most people can pronounce them its not quite the same as other words and phrases where pronunciation is less easy.
StopWatch
In the last few weeks i’ve created several videos which have needed some form of stop watch or on screen timer and have been utalising free websites to do this. Given the ads which display on these sites I have decided not to utalise them anymore and look for a new solution.
After trying several windows stopwaches i’ve settled for now on a custom coded tapermonkey script that allows me to run a stop watch, show and hide it, move from left to right side and start / stop all wth various keyboard commands.
My hope now when I need one we can keep it in the browser and it will allow us to not sure any ads or other items we where not intending to show.
Additional Improvements
I am not done with the improvements I have a few still to work through as I continue to refine how I do things and how I provide these services to you my readers and watchers and I will continue to keep you updated on these.
